The visit of CEO Wonjin Autoparts

The CEO of Wonjin Autoparts India Pvt. Ltd., Mr J.E.M Williams visited PrintG on Jan 14th, 2019 at 4.00 PM to discuss the work progress for the collaborative project on Aluminium-ion battery. The Director of PrintG warmly welcomed Mr. John Williams and discussion regarding the development in the battery was done. Mr.John then visited the new battery laboratory set up by PrintG and had in hand experience about the operation of the various newly obtained equipment for Al-ion battery electrode development.

On Jan 15th 2019 the overall progress of the work regarding the cathode material developed for Al-ion battery was presented in PrintG at 9.30 AM which was attended by Mr. John and PrintG battery team. Discussions were made on the reported information and optimization results by Mr.John with Mr. I Made Joni and the battery team. Mr. John was happy about the progress made until now in the development of Al-ion battery electrode. At the end of the presentation, suggestions were made in improving the results obtained and future work plan was also discussed. Additional materials and equipment’s required for scaling up the production of electrode materials for Al-ion battery was also reviewed and updated in the future work. Following the presentation, we also had battery laboratory visit by Mr.John and Mr. Joni along with the battery team to discuss the types of equipment and chemicals required for developing the electrode for large scale applications.

The meeting was arranged for Mr. John Williams, CEO, Wonjin Autoparts India Pvt. Ltd., with the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Dr.med. Tri Hanggono Achmad, MD, the meeting was also joined by Dr.Eng. I Made Joni, Director of PrintG and Dr.Eng. Camellia Panatarani. The meeting was organized on Jan 16th at 9.00 AM in the Rector office, Universitas Padjadjaran. The main focus of the meeting is to have a clear idea about the support and the funding that can be extended from both the sides for the commercialization and large scale application of the Al-ion battery that is to be developed in near future. The Rector, Prof. Dr.med. Tri Hanggono Achmad, MD, discussed that he could extend support from his side for the development of the alternative to Lithium-ion battery i.e., Aluminium-ion battery. The Rector also suggested that the to be developed battery technology should be implemented in the West Java region which could be beneficial for the people of this region due to the increasing demand of vehicles which in turn increases the use of oil consumption leading to pollution. The meeting was fruitful with many informative ideas from both the sides that could not only benefit the research community in battery but also the people once it is implemented and commercialized.
